LNC Professional Guyana and the Ministry of Education have partnered to launch a groundbreaking TVET nail technology training program for students across six secondary schools in Georgetown.

A First for Guyana: Nail Technology Training Enters the Classroom

Change starts when someone dares to see opportunity where others don’t.

That’s exactly what happened on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, when a bold vision became reality. The Ministry of Education, in partnership with LNC Professional Guyana, officially launched the TVET Nail Technology Training Programme.

This is more than just another skills program. It's a national investment in creative careers, especially for young people eager to earn, express themselves, and build their own businesses.

Real Training, Real Tools, Real Futures

Thirty students from six secondary schools are the first beneficiaries of the TVET Nail Training. They’re being trained in the art and science of nail technology—one of the most in-demand beauty services across the Caribbean.

Schools in the programme include:

  • Carmel Secondary
  • Freeburg Secondary
  • Lodge Secondary
  • East Ruimveldt Secondary
  • South Ruimveldt Secondary
  • Dolphin Secondary

But students aren’t the only ones learning. In March 2025, five dedicated teachers completed a hands-on LNC Professional Caricom Masterclass, led by NSI Regional Educator Lexann McPhoy. They’ll now help shape the next generation of certified nail technicians.

Over the next three weeks, thirty students and one more teacher will receive foundational training that could lead to full Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) certification in the near future.

From Idea to Action: A Ministry-Led Movement

This milestone didn’t happen overnight. It’s the vision of the Honourable Minister of Education, brought to life by the hardworking team at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Unit.

Special recognition goes to Mrs. Marcia Paddy-Andrews, ACEO (Technical), who continues to champion technical learning and innovative skills in secondary education.

Their leadership proves what’s possible when education systems adapt to evolving industries and make room for new kinds of excellence.

Meet the Force Behind the Movement: Lexann McPhoy

As a certified NSI Regional Nail Technician Educator, Lexann McPhoy has transformed lives across Guyana and the wider Caribbean.

Through her leadership, LNC Professional Guyana continues to champion:

  • MMA-free, HEMA-free, eco-conscious nail systems
  • Accredited business and salon startup training
  • Customized training programs for schools, salons, and communities

For over two decades, she has worked to elevate nail artistry from hustle to profession—especially for young women who deserve access to both beauty and business knowledge.

What’s Next? Certification, Careers, and Confidence

The ultimate goal? To integrate Nail Technology into the CVQ framework in Guyana. That means students won’t just be learning—they’ll be qualifying.

They’ll graduate with skills that are internationally recognized, ready for employment or entrepreneurship the moment they leave school.

This is how we prepare youth for real-world success. This is how we honour talent in all its forms.

Let’s Raise the Bar Together

We don’t have to wait for opportunities to show up. Sometimes, we must create them where they’re needed most.

By partnering with schools, supporting teachers, and training students, LNC Professional Guyana is doing just that. And we’re just getting started.

Do you believe in youth empowerment through creative skills? Let’s work together. Let’s build futures one trained nail technician at a time.
