The role

We are looking for a nail technician and pedicurist who works comfortably in two languages: Portuguese and English, or Spanish and English. The position exists so that clients who are more comfortable in Spanish or Portuguese can be looked after properly, in their own language, from the first conversation to the finished set.

The work you would be doing

The studio does manicures, pedicures, gel and acrylic. In practice that means:

  • Manicures. The classic covers nail shaping, cuticle care and polish. The luxury manicure adds exfoliation, a hydrating mask and a hand-and-arm massage.
  • Pedicures. The luxury pedicure is seven steps, from a sea-salt soak through an exfoliating scrub, a hydrating mask and an extended foot-and-leg massage, to shaping, cuticle care and a HEMA-free gel or MMA-free polish finish. There is a waterless pedicure as well.
  • Gel. The HEMA-free LNC Professional system, where most clients get three weeks of wear before a refill.
  • Acrylic. Sets that run three to four weeks before an infill, with the apex built where the stress actually sits.

Why this studio is not like the others

It is appointment only. That is the whole difference in how the work feels. The chair is your client's for the length of the visit, nobody is waiting over your shoulder, and you are not being asked to cut a set short to make room for a walk-in.

The products are chosen on health, not on price. Everything in the studio is LNC Professional: MMA-free throughout, HEMA-free gel, eco-conscious and professional-grade, built on the same trusted chemistry clients have known for years through the NSI lineage. If you have worked somewhere that bought whatever was cheapest, this is a different standard of product under your hands.

You would be working alongside an educator. Lexann McPhoy is an NSI Silver Level Global Educator with more than twenty years of master craft, and the studio runs professional nail classes. Technique here is taught, named and corrected rather than assumed.

The clientele is national. Clients travel in from Berbice, down from Linden and across from the Essequibo coast. The work has to hold, because for many of them one trip has to be enough.

The studio itself. Garden-inspired and eco-conscious, at 64 Hadfield Street, 2nd Floor, Stabroek, Georgetown.

Who we are looking for

  • Fluent in Portuguese and English, or Spanish and English, spoken comfortably with a client.
  • Able to do manicures and pedicures to a professional standard, and willing to be taught the studio's way of building a set.
  • Careful about nail health and prep. Preparation is where a three-week set is won or lost.
  • Based in Guyana, or able to work in Guyana.

A formal certificate is welcome and not essential. What matters is the standard of your hands and your willingness to work to the studio's method.

The studio hours

The studio opens Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed Wednesday and Sunday.

How to apply

Send a WhatsApp message to Rebecca on +592-712-6245. Rebecca is the studio assistant and she passes every application straight to Lexann.

In your message, please include:

  • Your name.
  • Which language pair you work in: Portuguese and English, or Spanish and English.
  • How long you have been doing nails, and what you do best.
  • Any training or certificate you hold.
  • Where in Guyana you are, and when you could start.
  • Photographs of your own work, if you have them.

Write in whichever of the three languages you are most comfortable in. English is not required for the application itself.
