Not everybody who sits at my table lives in Georgetown. Clients travel in from Berbice, down from Linden, across from the Essequibo coast, over the Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge from the West Bank, and in from the East Bank and the East Coast. For some of them an appointment is most of a day.
That changes how I work. If a client has given up most of a day to get here, the set has to earn the day. This is what I do about it, and what to know before you book.
A set that lifts in a week is an inconvenience if you live in Kitty and a serious problem if you have come in from Berbice. So the work that makes a set last is the work I will not rush, and it mostly happens before any colour goes near your hand.
Your natural nail is prepped properly, which means the surface is cleaned and dehydrated and the cuticle is dealt with rather than cut back and ignored. The structure is built where the nail actually needs it. The apex sits where the stress sits, not where it is easiest to float it, and that single thing is the difference between a set that holds and a set that pops off a corner on day nine. The shape is cut to your hand and to what you do with your hands all day, because a long almond on a woman who works a till is a set designed to fail.
Then the product. The studio runs on LNC Professional, which is MMA-free, eco-conscious and professional-grade, and it builds on the same chemistry my clients have trusted for years. Sets here are engineered for three-week wear retention. I will not promise you four weeks or six weeks and I will not tell you a set never chips, because I do not know what your week looks like. Three weeks is what the work is built for and it is what I will stand behind.
If you are travelling, that number is the whole argument. Three weeks of wear is three weeks of not making the journey again.
Nobody gives up a travelling day to sit in a waiting room. The studio takes appointments only, so your slot is held for you and the chair is yours when you arrive. It also means I am not turning over three people while I am building your set, which is the other half of why the structure comes out right.
Opening is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Wednesday and Sunday are closed. The last appointment starts at 5:00 PM, and if you are travelling back the same day that is the number to plan around rather than the closing time.
Tell me when you book that you are coming in from out of town. It changes what I schedule around you, and it means I am not starting a full sculpted set at the back end of the afternoon when you have a road to get back on.
The studio is at 64 Hadfield Street, second floor, Stabroek. Look for the white building with the pink sign, second floor, around the corner from the Argentine and Chilean Embassies. It is a short run in from Kitty, Campbellville, Queenstown, Alberttown, Bel Air Park, Prashad Nagar and Thomas Lands, and no further from Werk-en-Rust, Albouystown, Tucville, La Penitence, South Ruimveldt, Meadowbrook or Sophia.
The same goes if you are out along the East Coast at Turkeyen, Cummings Lodge, Industry or Plaisance, or up the East Bank through Agricola, Eccles, Ramsburg, Peter's Hall, Nandy Park, Bagotstown and Atlantic Ville. One road in, and you are at the door.
The crossing used to be the thing that decided whether a West Bank client could keep an appointment, because the old floating bridge had to open for shipping and the morning had to be planned around it. The Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge has the clearance for ships to pass underneath, so there is no closing time to work around any more. If you are coming from Vreed-en-Hoop, Best, Klein Pouderoyen, La Grange, Nismes, Goed Fortuin, Malgre Tout, Meer Zorgen or Windsor Forest, that is one less thing standing between you and the chair.
It does not lower the standard. It raises it. A woman who crosses a river for an appointment has already decided the work is worth the crossing, and the only honest answer to that is a set built well enough that she is not crossing again in a fortnight. That is why the prep is slow, why the apex goes where the stress is, and why I would rather book you properly than fit you in.
Book the appointment first and build the rest of the day around it rather than the other way round. A full sculpted set is not a twenty-minute job and I would rather you were not watching a clock while I am working on your apex.
If you are coming from far and you want more than nails out of the trip, say so. The studio also runs professional nail classes, and if you are already making the journey it is worth asking about them when you book rather than on the day.
Bring your aftercare question with you and ask it at the table. What you do with your hands between appointments is half of whether a set reaches three weeks, and I would far rather talk it through while you are sitting in front of me than answer it by message after something has lifted.
Appointments are at lexannnsi.com/appointments, or call the studio on +592 622-2822. Say where you are travelling from when you book.
